Recommendations

While a wide range of custom options are available, the 11” X 8.5” size before folding on 70lb uncoated white is the most common. For 1 & 2 colour brochures, these are normally printed in two colour (Pantone and black) on the front and back (2/2). There are ample fold options, but the most common types of folds are Z-Folds, Tri-Folds, and Half-Folds. Both the Z-Folds and Tri-Folds provide you with six panels to present text and graphics, but Half-Folds only provide you with four.

Marketing Tips

Brochures are marketing staples. They are very versatile and efficient means of getting your message out about your brand, products, or promotions, allowing you to use both text and images to reach your current and potential clients and customers. These marketing materials can use graphics or text to give consumers a feel for who you are and what you have to offer.

These are also wonderful for providing customers with answers to any initial questions they may have, and this could be augmented by incorporating a QR code into your design. QR codes can link to your website or a special landing page to provide more information than could ever be represented on a brochure. These can be included in sales kits, used in mailing campaigns, handed out at events, or distributed door-to-door.

Are the Brochure sizes on the website listed folded or flat?

The sizes listed are the unfolded, flat sizes.

What are the most common Brochure folds?

The most common would be the classic Tri-Fold. it is mostly used for product pamphlets, take-out menus, promotional brochures, and many other applications. It can be easily inserted into envelopes, so it's a great option for mailing. A "Letterfold" is basically a portrait Tri-Fold. It has a different name because it is mostly used for letters and documents inserted into a #10 envelope.

A variation of the Tri-Fold is the Z-fold, where the last panel is folded outwards instead of being tucked in, forming a "Z" shape. Z-fold is mostly used for bilingual items, as each side of the folded brochure serves as a front cover panel.

Another popular fold is the half-fold, as it is simple and economical. It is good for product handouts, menus, newsletters, guides, or inserts for catalogs. Thicker paper stock can be used because there is only one fold, and additional finishes can be added without affecting the fold's functionality.

Why did the fold I wanted disappear after I changed my Brochure size or paper?

In this case, the fold is not compatible with either the paper or the size of your choice.

For instance, a Quarter Fold can be done on a 10pt or 12pt card stock, but not on 14pt. Quarter Fold requires multiple folds, and the 14pt paper is too thick for that.
